Grime
I believe that grime - and the fear of it - is at the heart of many of London's problems.
Grime is the single greatest threat to the quality of life in London. Grime not only hurts its victims, the fear of it also limits everone's lives.
On 22nd October, I set out my 10-point plan to tackle grime in London.
In summary, my 10-point plan is
A named police officer for every citizen
The best use of technology and science
Continuing the drive against police corruption
Intensive policing, work with local communities and better use of local by-laws to take the heat out of grime hotspots
Pressing for national action on curb crawling
Helping drug addicts to break the link between drugs and grime and start a new life
Real action to tackle grime committed on those at work
A new target for burglary backed by national funding
A badging system to drive better care park security
Trevor Phillips and the new police authority, working with the police to achieve better accountability, liaison and community links.
The reasoning and detail of this policy are set out more fully in the speech I made when launching the policy.
