Frequently Asked Questions:
Dear Frank,
We have two children and I'm concerned about the high number of RTAs- particularly those involving children. Will you improve the situation?
Frank replied:
Thank-you for your query about this important matter.
It is certainly a priority of mine to make the streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians- especially young children. I published a 10-point transport plan a few weeks and this is one of the areas that I targeted.
Here are some of my policies which I believe will make our streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians:
· I will increase the number of 'home zones' - areas where the speed limit is reduced to 20mph- in consultation with local people
· The London Cycle Network should be improved. It is my dream that all mainline stations will be linked with a cycle 'circle line.'
· Every school will have to develop a safe route to school plan
· The World Squares which will increase the pedestrianisation of central London is a project supported by me.
· We should have a designated 'traffic free Sunday' every Summer in central London
I believe these policies will certainly help to improve the safety of our streets.
Best wishes,
Frank
